More pics from the Wales break

I needed some R&R - as a live-in carer sleep is sometimes hard to come by, and with lack of sleep comes a need for a real break, away from it all, and I discovered Wales.
Now, to find a way to live here for a while.... how can I make that happen?
My new favourite place

Hi guys, nice to see you too! Brecon Beacons National Park.
A gap between rainfalls.

The kind of view that makes everything ok in my life.

Also at Brecon Beacon National Park. The colours!
In spite of the gloomy weather.

More sheep... and a patch of blue sky.

Sunrise from my bedroom window in Brecon.

Drive-by shooting. Sometimes I have to stop the car and start snapping.

This is the bookshop where I found my 7 League Boots story!
I could get locked in here overnight, very happily.

Here it is, in black and white. I didn't dream it up!

Aardvark Books. Ok not quite Wales, but close enough.
This is where I found my long lost Fables of Da Vinci.

From the window ledge of my room at La Fosse B&B.
Highly recommended, go there! Hay-On-Wye

Beautiful Wales

I'm in love. Again. This time with a small village named Hay-On-Wye. Full of bookshops, friendly people, lovely walks, views that go on forever, and with a small car I can disappear into the hills within a few minutes of driving.
These are a few pictures from the walk I did, across a field, into England, then over a small bridge back to Wales....

A room with a view

A series of pictures taken through a window.

Caught in the act!
Squirrel has no problem scaling the pole to steal the birdseed.

Watching the pheasant shooters from my bedroom window.
I wasn't fast enough to catch the young deer on film as he ran away from the guns.
Baughurst.

The Sax on Bell Hotel, Saxmundham.
My first night in a hotel in the UK!

Not a great view, but impressive.
Bury St Edmund Cathedral.

Garden could use some work... if I'm there in spring I'll give it a go.

Scenic walk in Thatcham

Nature Discovery Centre, Thatcham, West Berkshire

In spite of the icy weather (4 degrees when I left home, 3 degrees when I arrived at the centre) I had a lovely morning. I did the Open Water and Wetlands Trail, and then took a stroll around the lakes - totalling 5km.
Lunch at the little restaurant to warm up, was chilli con carne - delicious! And not too expensive.
My first view of the lake, from the restaurant/bookshop

A gloomy day...

I love my endless pathways

Peaking through the trees

I wonder what this looks like in summer

And this. Must be rather beautiful. Will have to come back.

Under the train bridge

... reflecting...

I thought this looked interesting. The reflection of the tree lighting up the plant life under the water.

Looking across the water at the discovery centre

This little guy was sitting in the tree, and while I was getting the camera ready he dropped down onto the post to pose for me.

A little splash of colour

Think I should have brought some bread?

They do know they are pretty boys.
